In July 2011 the tribe passed the Land Use Ordinance to govern how tribal lands are utilized and developed. The ordinance created the Tribal Planning Board to oversee the ordinance and to ensure that it is being enforced effectively and equitably through the Realty and Natural Resources department. The Land Use Ordinance is applicable to Catawba Indian reservation and non-reservation lands.
